7 Creative communications Apps that you should know about

In this last installment of the series, we’ll take a look of some of the latest apps on the market that are making our devices even more useful for marketing purposes. While there are new apps to make our lives easier, to save money, and to entertain us, we’ll leave those for another day or another blog. There are plenty to discuss that the marketer will find helpful.

1) Cloze: If you get tired of having to check different sites for different social media updates, then Cloze is for you. Cloze integrates them all into one! You can check your Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and even your email all in one place. It organized your contacts by who you talk to the most rather than who you talked to last. This app has gotten lots of good press by the big guys. Cloze is compatible with iPhone and Android.

2) Triggertrap: This free app for iPhone and Android turns your smart phone into a SLR. It allows your camera phone to be used for timelapses, distancelapse, long-exposure, sound triggering and much more. You do have to purchase a dongle and cable for $29.99 to make it work, however. But that’s pretty darn cheap for an “SLR”! When you’re shooting at an event and don’t have your camera, it makes a nice quick-and-dirty way to get that “professional” shot. Available on iPhone and Android.
3) Feedly: This free iPhone and Android app provides you with news feeds from your favorite blogs, magazines, journals, etc., and collates them into a magazine-type format. Great for PR-types that must keep up with the media. Available on the iPhone and Android.

4) Cinemagram: Looking for a quick and easy way to make videos with your cell phone? This will do it. Cinemagram allows you to make short, Vine-length videos with your static photos in a matter of seconds. Great for posting on Twitter or Google+. Sounds impossible, right? Go see for yourself! Available on the iPhone and Android.
5) Quora: You probably already know about Quora the website, right? The Q&A social media website where anyone can ask and anyone can answer questions about anything? Well, now there’s an app for that. It’s a great way to show off your smarts and get leads for your business. Available for the iPhone and Android.

6) OmniFocus: Most marketers I know would love to have personal secretaries as in Mad Men days, but instead are doing their own typing and scheduling. OmniFocus is designed to quickly capture your thoughts and ideas to store, manage and help you process them into actionable to-do items. OmniFocus helps you work smarter by giving you powerful tools to stay on top of all the things you need to do. Available for Mac, iPhone and iPad.

7) Sellsy: The tagline for this powerful software calls itself “CRM and sales management for smart companies.” It will provide you a way to keep up with your prospects, then the ability to time-track and bill them once they’re clients, and much more. Sellsy is a CRM/ERP solution packed with convenient features such as CRM pipelines, invoicing, time tracking and billing, teamwork and tasks management, helpdesk, purchases and inventory management and connected touch point-of-sale solution. Sellsy is also connected with SaaS players including Google Apps, Dropbox and Mailchimp (among others). It is compatible with Android, iPhone-iPad, Linux, Mac, Mobile Web App, RIM-BlackBerry, Web-based, Windows and Windows Phone. Plans start at $30.90/month.

What works for you?

These are just a few of the thousands of apps on the market that can make your job as a marketer or PR pro more efficient. It’s tempting to download all the free apps that look interesting to your phone or iPad simply because you can. But be realistic. Don’t clutter up your workspace and hard drive with software if you know the chances that you’ll really use them are slim. And you should weed out your apps from time to time.
