Two victims who were rescued from a
kidnappers’ den in Ogun State by the police, recently narrated the gory
experiences of their
time in captivity.
They are the wife of Chairmanship
aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Ewekoro Local Government
Area, Mrs. Kudirat Balogun, and one Gbenga Taiwo.
Balogun was kidnapped last Sunday night
at her husband’s home on Sekoni Street, Olomore area of Abeokuta by four
gunmen, while Taiwo was abducted at Atan-Ijebu on Monday.
The Commissioner of Police in the State,
Ilyasu Ahmed, who presented the victims to journalists at the Police
Officerss Mess in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, said the victims were rescued
unhurt on Wednesday night by men of the command.
He said, “After the kidnap, operatives
of Federal Special Armed Robbery Squad, Magbon, were deployed to comb
every nooks and crannies of the state and were able to rescue the
victims unhurt.”
He said, Kudirat was found on
Wednesday night.

“We are still on the trail of the suspects and the long arm of the law will soon catch up with them,” he said.
He said Taiwo on the other hand, was rescued on the same day at Ogere in Remo North Local Government Area of the state.
But he said no arrest had been made. He
expressed optimism that “those responsible for the crime will be
apprehended. We are very close.”
While sharing her ordeal, Kudirat who
was still in shock, said she was hooded shortly after she was taken away
by her abductors.
Balogun said “The kidnappers released
me when they discovered that men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad and
other security forces were closing in on them.
“I was blindfolded, I could not
recognise those places, they moved me from one place to another. I can’t
remember anything much.”
Taiwo, who is a hotelier, contractor and
an estate agent, said he was kidnapped on Monday, August 22, 2016
around 9pm at Atan Ijebu along Barrack Road by four gunmen.
He said, “They requested for N5m and I told them I did not have such amount of money. They threatened to kill me.
“I was not afraid. I told them that if they killed me they would be arrested because I am an Ijebu man.”
He further disclosed that he continued to give them serious warning, adding they were shocked and became panicky.
Taiwo said they panicked and finally dropped him around Ogere area on Wednesday night.
