Major General Muhammadu Buhari, All Progressives Congress
presidential candidate has paid former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku
Abubakar a visit days after the latter lost his presidential bid to the
former.
The former Head of State beat polled 3,430 of 7,214 votes
cast while Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano surprisingly placed second
with 974. Atiku Abubakar polled 954, Governor Rochas Okorocha had 624
and Sam Nda-Isaiah finished with a paltry 10 votes.
It would be
recalled that prior the presidential primary, the presidential
candidates had vowed to support whoever emerge as presidential
candidate, perhaps the reason why Buhari and some leaders of the party,
paid Atiku a visit at his Asokoro residence.
It was reported that
Buhari and Atiku went into a closed door meeting on how their party can
win the 2015 election. A source close to the meeting told the Nigerian
Tribune that it was part of the efforts to work for the victory of the
party ahead the 2015 election.
“As you can see, APC leaders are
forging ahead after the primaries. Buhari is here to meet with the
Turaki Adamawa for the way forward.
“In the next few days, APC will surprise all. That is what I can tell you for now,” a source close to the meeting said.
