A 40-year-old car dealer was shot dead on Wednesday by unidentified gunmen in Lagos.
He was on his way to supply a bus to his customer in Egbe-Ikotun Area Lagos State, western Nigeria, when the incident happened.
The victim, Lukmon
Oluwasheun, was shot by the men who were on a motorcycle at Olusesi
street, Ilewe bus stop, Egbe, after he went to the bank to collect the
money paid for the bus by his customer identified simply as Dotun.
The
incident happened about 2:00pm after the late Oluwasheun drove the
tokunbo bus from his base at Ikeja airport to Egbe to deliver it to
Dotun.
The circumstance of the attack and death made the police at Ikotun division to arrest Dotun.
P.M.NEWS
gathered that after Dotun negotiated the price of the bus with
Oluwasheun, he asked him to supply the bus for a certain amount and
promised to pay the balance when he brought the bus to his Egbe office.
It
was learnt that Oluwasheun drove the bus to Egbe where he met Dotun.
After that, Dotun reportedly took Oluwasheun to a nearby bank and
withdrew some money and paid him the balance.
After
collecting the money and as they were going back to Dotun’s office where
the bus was parked, two men on a bike double-crossed them and demanded
for the money.
They immediately shot Oluwasheun and he died on the spot.
When
the police were informed about the incident, they arrested Dotun and
went and picked the corpse and deposited it at Isolo General Hospital
for autopsy.
The death of Oluwasheun has raised concerns about what might have been the motive by those who murdered him.
Some
residents who witnessed the incident said he might have been killed by
hired assassins, while some said he might have been a victim of robbers
that operate on bikes in that area.
When our reporter visited the Ikotun Police Division to see the DPO, he was not around to comment on the incident.
Sources at the station who confirmed the incident said that the police have commenced investigation on the matter.
The sources also said Dotun, who is the prime suspect, will be transferred to SCID, Panti, Yaba for further interrogation.
The police also recovered the bus the deceased brought to Dotun and parked it at the station.
