An office assistant serving at a Magistrate court in Bukuru, Jos
south Local Government Area of Plateau state, averted an explosion at
the court in the early hours of Tuesday, residents and witnesses said.
The Police Public Relation Officer in Jos, Abuh Emmanuel, when
contacted over the alleged explosives, confirmed that the device was
found.
He denied that it was an explosive device but went ahead to commend
the staff who found the device and asked residents to be cautious.
The staff, who preferred to be anonymous, was preparing the office
for the day’s job when she saw a big envelop behind the door of her
boss.
She said the envelope contained some electrical installations so she
called the attention of security personnel at the court. The personnel
identified the items as an explosive timed to detonate.
The incident stalled the court’s proceedings as plaintiffs, complainants and court attendants deserted the court’s premises.
The police anti-bomb squad at the “B/Division” police office Bukuru, were invited to defuse and evacuate the device.
A security guard, last Sunday, uncovered a similar explosives at ECWA
church Tudunwada, Jos north Local Government Area, averting an
explosion.
