election in Ekiti State.
It was a shock victory as going into the election, incumbent Kayode Fayemi of the All Peoples Congress (APC) appeared to be the popular choice.
This is not the first foray into the
Governorship position for Fayose as he was first elected Governor of
Ekiti State in 2003 but was controversially impeached in 2006.
According to INEC figures, Ayo Fayose
won in all the 16 Local Government Areas and 158 out of 177 Wards,
polling total votes of 203,090 while Kayode Fayemi received a total of
120,433 votes.
The elections took place yesterday, 21st
June 2014 and the results were announced after the collation process
was completed by the Returning Officer for the Independent National
Electoral Commissioner in Ado-Ekiti.
