Party,PDP were disappointed today as they waited in vain for President Goodluck Jonathan to visit former President,Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at his Hilltop Mansion in Abeokuta, Ogun state.
President Jonathan, who came to town in continuation of his re-election campaign just failed to show up.
Vice President, Arch.Namadi Sambo arrived Abeokuta ahead of the President and drove to the palace of Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland,Oba (Dr.) Michael Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo,Okukenu IV to pay him a courtesy visit.
It was gathered that the Vice President arrived the Ake palace at about 3:00pm and drove out at exactly 3:20pm.
At Obasanjo’s residence,a reliable source confirmed to our correspondent said there was no indication that the former leader was expecting Jonathan.
“We don’t have any such visit on our itinenary. If we are expecting such visitor,you and I know how this place will look like. Baba is not expecting anybody.To even let you know, Baba just drove out now while you people were sitting here,. But I’m not sure if you people know it was him.
“He drove out in a black jeep with one police escort car.If I can guess very well,the time then will be exactly 2:59pm. So,I dont know where you got your own information that President Jonathan will be coming to visit Baba today. Yes,as a Nigerian,I heard he will be coming to Abeokuta today but it is for a polItical stuff,as I gathered and Baba is not expecting anybody,”an Obasanjo aide said.
A newspaper had reported today that President Jonathan would visit Obasanjo in Abeokuta today, 48 hours after Obasanjo had sent tongues wagging when he surprisingly emerged at a wedding ceremony in Abuja, between Jonathan’s niece, Inebharapu and Simeoan Onyemaechi.
