Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar of Nigerian city of Sokoto told President
Goodluck Jonathan today that he was yet to collect a permanent
voters
card, to enable him vote in next month’s election.
His statement must have come as a shock to Nigeria’s leader, less than a month to the first phase of the general election.
Sultan
Abubakar spoke today when he received President Jonathan and other PDP
big wigs, who came to pay him a courtesy visit before they kicked off
their presidential and governorship campaigns.
The Sultan however
urged the authorities to make available permanent voters cards before
the conduct of next month general election.
He said that the many including himself are yet to collect their permanent voters cards.
He also called on politicians to campaign on issues to ensure peaceful conduct of the general election.
President Jonathan told INEC two weeks ago to ensure that all eligible Nigerians received their PVCs before election day.
