A state High Court sitting in Isabo
Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Friday ordered a 63-year-old man, Alabi
Ibrahim, to be remanded in prison
for allegedly infecting his
13-year-old step-daughter with Human Immunodeficiency Syndrome.
The court was presided over by Justice A. Akinremi.
The accused person who had earlier been
arraigned for allegedly defiling the said minor, was re-arraigned for
infecting the victim with the virus.
The shocking discovery was contained in a medical examination report tendered before the court.
The
Director of Public Prosecution, Mrs. O. Osunfisan who stood for the
plaintiff in the case instituted by Child Protection Network, a
Non-Governmental Organisation, told the court that the accused, by the
medical report, infected the victim with the virus.

vehemently denied having carnal knowledge of the step-daughter, let
alone infecting her with the deadly virus.
He told the court that the victim had
earlier been sexually abused by a relative of his wife, adding that he
resolved to send the girl packing when he observed that she was wayward
and loose.
The DPP, while presenting the medical
reports conducted on November 2012 as exhibits 2 and 3, emphasised that
the accused infected the victim after defiling her.
She added that the accused also got a separate a room for the girl in the home to pave way for regular sex with her.
The plaintiff also maintained that the accused had always had sex with her under the guise of helping her with her home work.
A witness in the case, Sakirat Mosaku,
told the court that Alabi’s wife had raised the alarm about the
relationship between her daughter and husband.
Meanwhile, Justice Akinremi in his ruling, adjourned further hearing till July 7, 2015.
