A 9 year old pupil of Unique Blossom School Maitama, Miss Splendour Joe Abisoye has presented to the Defence Headquarters

a copy of her book titled “Effects of Terrorism on Children”.
Accompanied by her parents Rev. and Mrs Joe King Abisoye, Splendour stated that she was inspired to write the book as a result of the issue of terrorism occurrences in Nigeria and her interactions with children when she visited an Internally Displaced Persons Camp (IDPs). She noted that the minds of these young ones have been debased. For instance, Splendour said, many of them were said to prefer to join Boko Haram group so as to be protected. Her inspiration was further boosted to write with the understanding that these terrorists were once children and only proper education could guarantee a terror free society.

She however sought to use the Defence Headquarters as a platform to reach out to other stakeholders in the fight against terrorism in the distribution of her books and to send them to all IDP camps, Almajiri schools and all military schools in Nigeria.
Receiving the young author on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, the Director Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade described the book as a simple, rich, very educative and easily understood by young and old. He commended the author, describing the feat as unusual. He commended the parents for their support and encouragement which galvanized their daughter to write such a beautiful book. “This is the type of encouragement we should give to our children. We will continue to encourage you and others that have this same talent. If you keep it up, you will be one of the greatest authors in the world”. General Olukolade concluded.
