Unpaid Salary: Workers Shut Down Operation Of AIT/Raypwer.

Members of staff of DARR Communications, owners of AIT/Ray Power stations in Benin City, Edo sate, engaged the management of
the media outfit in a showdown, shutting down the station’s broadcasting activities over alleged high handedness on the part of the management of the station and nonpayment of their salaries of between 11 and 17 months.
The aggrieved workers who took over the entrance to the premises of the broadcast outfit situated along the Benin/Lagos by pass, Ikhueniro village, said they were living in penury while some of the management staff live in opulence.
Armed with placards of various anti-management slogans, the AIT/Ray Power staff described as annoying that their employers would be contemplating laying off staff even when they were not paying regularly.
They further alleged that one of the managers of the station informed their superiors in Abuja that working with contract staff would be more convenient for them in the station than working permanent staff.

Efforts to reach the Benin station manager, Oyeghe Oyarekhua who is Head of AIT and Osadolor Igiozee, head of Ray Power and the outfit’s head of marketing, Baimoh Emozozo were not successful as they were not in the office when journalists visited the station, but asked that all enquiries to be directed to the Abuja headquarters of the organisation.
“Everything is about salaries and these are issues handled by the Headquarters, so will advise that enquiries be directed to Abuja. But I can assure you that management at that level is working to ensure all is well,” a staff who did not want to be named volunteered to journalists.
The stations are currently off air and their followers awaits what happens thereafter.
