Tenant Thrown Down From A Storey Building Die.
A 23-year old tenant thrown down a storey building in Lagos has died in a hospital. The bricklayer identified as Jamiu Isiaka, was
thrown down the building by thugs allegedly sent by a 64-year old landlord at Sanu Street, Ijaiye-Ojokoro, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
P.M.NEWS learnt that trouble started when the mother of a 14-year old girl identified as Bilikisu Yusuf told the landlord that she sent Bilikisu to buy sugar but instead she went and met a man.
The landlord was alleged to have stormed the house with some thugs who pounced on Isiaka, thinking he was the man Bilikisu went to meet.
They beat him mercilessly and threw him down from the storey building.
He was rushed to nearby hospital where he died two days later.
According to an eye witness who craved anonymity, when the thugs got to Isiaka’s room and they knocked on the door, Isiaka thought his friends who went to watch a football match had returned and as soon as he opened the door, the thugs descended on him.
“After the incident, Bilikisu told everyone that Isiaka was not her boyfriend. They just killed the innocent boy without any reason,’’ the eyewitness lamented.
The deceased’s colleague, Mr. Wole Adepoju, told our reporter that Isiaka did not look for trouble throughout the period he worked with him.
“We were working together as bricklayers and he was the one taking care of all the contracts of his father because he was an easy going person who did not make trouble. He was very humble,’’ Adepoju explained.
Barrister Samuel Iroye, a neighbor and client of the deceased, told P.M.NEWS that it was Isiaka and his father that built his church and described him as a young, promising man who would be missed by all that knew him, adding that he will make sure that justice was done.
The landlord has been arrested by the police at Ojokoro and has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Yaba, for further interrogation.
