Serena Williams is featured in two of Gotham’s late summer
attractions, the US Tennis Open and Fashion Week.
Williams, who made it to the singles final Sunday, has won her fans
on and off the court. This week she sported a pink leopard print dress
at the US Open and is making her first presentation at New York Fashion
Week on Tuesday.
Williams, is one of the most recognized names in sports and renowned
for her fashion sensibility that is both fun and flirty, this week wore a
pink leopard dress during the day, and a black leopard dress at night.
Nike calls it “the fierce Nike Serena Dress.”
The Grand Slam champion will show off her namesake collection of more
than 25 looks — some in leopard and camouflage prints — on the runway
that will feature “easy fitting, yet bold, edgy and contemporary
silhouettes,” including soft knits. The show will be bold, confident
chic with a touch of edgy street style, her representative said. Prices
range from $29.90 to $79.90.
Williams signed the deal with HSN in May 2009. The collection will be
available on HSN.com from Sept. 9, and Williams will appear on air for a
total of eight hours on Sept. 16.
The runway show will be at STYLE360 a fashion program that incorporates fashion shows and after parties on West 46th Street.
