A man shot and killed his wife early on Saturday after allegedly
mistaking her for an intruder, according to police.
Debora Kelly, 48, was shot once in the upper body and was pronounced dead inside her home in San Antonio, Texas around 4.15 a.m. on Saturday.
Her husband, who has not been
identified, told police officers he heard noises at the front of the
house and saw a flash of light, and thought it was an intruder, a
spokesperson with the San Antonio Police Department told INSIDE EDITION.
He grabbed his shotgun and fired a single round, hitting his wife.
The man was interviewed by detectives on Saturday and has not been charged, police said. The case remains under investigation.
Neighbors told KSAT that
they were shocked by the incident. They said that the husband owns a
contracting company while his wife worked "in the medical world."
"They have been married several years and seemed to be doing just fine," neighbor Dale Hollrah said.
