Two Story Building Collapsed In Lagos.

The collapsed building.
A two-storey building under construction has collapsed in Lekki

area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.
The building, located at 37, Agungi, Ajiran Road, opposite Obafemi Olatunji Street, Lekki was said to have caved in around 6:45am Tuesday with rescue workers currently working to rescue those trapped in the building.
It was gathered that the developer is developing three buildings of two-storeys each in the same compound, with one of them collapsing in the early hours of Tuesday, but no death has been recorded as at the time of filing this report.

Officials of the Police, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, fire service and other rescue agencies are currently on ground as rescue operation is still ongoing, but two people have been rescued alive so far.
However, unconfirmed reports said six people were said to be in the building when it collapsed, with only two rescued so far, with one treated and discharged, while the other is still in the hospital.
General Manager, LASEMA, Michael Akindele told PMNEWS that all emergency responders had been mobilised to site to join in the rescue operation, saying that a motorcycle was recovered from the ground floor of the building at about 3:45pm.

Akindele said two excavators were being used in the rescue operation, as the area had been cordoned off to prevent crowd from gaining access to the area.
According to him, the collapsed building had earlier been marked by the Lagos Building Control Agency, LASBCA on 16 August, 2015 to stop work as the development was dubbed illegal, but lamented that the developer continued the development of the buildings.
He said the materials used in the construction of the building were inferior and that the officials of the Lagos State Material Testing Laboratory were on ground and had said the materials were inferior.
